2017 First Nations
Records and Information Management Symposia
Thank you to all who attended the Second Annual First Nations RIM Symposia, hosted by ARMA Vancouver Chapter!
We had over 200 participants attending this year’s FN RIM Symposia at Whitehorse and Vancouver. Speakers presented on topics including Fundamentals of RIM, Shared Drive Restructure, Freedom of Information & privacy, and Archival management in First Nations context.
ARMA Vancouver, along with a coalition of First Nations organizations, First Nations communities and records management professionals are working together in organizing two symposia aimed to build information management capacity in First Nations communities in the Yukon and British Columbia.
Vancouver: June 5-6, 2017 at University of British Columbia Nest (Student Union Building)
Whitehorse: April 11-12, 2017 at Westmark

Who Should Attend: Tribal/First Nations Government administrators, receptionists, archivists, students, and anyone working in the field of Records Management can benefit from attending these symposia.
Why Attend: There is a growing need for RIM training for First Nations as they build capacity on becoming self-governing and to help develop their infrastructure compliant to federal reporting and auditing rules. The focus of these symposia is on practical knowledge and skills that participants will be able to bring home and utilize.
ARMA International CEO will open our main program with a keynote speech and there will be ample time for Q&A with speakers before we end the day.
